Hamilton needed French fries and a chocolate shake, so I drove through McDonald’s before dropping him at the station, saying I would return at seven for our meeting.

As soon as he was out of the car and I was back on Victory Boulevard, I activated the hands-free and called Preston.

“Yeah?”

“Mr. Preston, I assume you have the sketch of our suspect?”

“Got it ten minutes ago. Just finished scanning it into our database.”

“Subject’s name is Kanga,” I said, spelling it. “He was identified by Madame Leoni, from Smitty’s list. Find him for me.”
